The rising trend and term of “review” is being found every where. So I held back my two cents and waited to give my opinion on the topic.

With that said, welcome to my product review / advice page. I hope the contents you find here will somehow inspire you, provide tips and more that you'll use in your daily work or life.

The items that I review are products or gadgets that I truly believe in and find useful.

All opinions are my own.

Mobile Phone Photography Just Got Better

Cameras have been around for ages. From the analog to digital age. They come in a myriad of shapes and sizes and we can't seem to do without them.

One thing that is true to date is that they are getting better with each iteration. Depending on your photographic requirements, there is a camera out there for you.

In 2000, Samsung released the SCH-V200 phone in South Korea with a 0.35 megapixel sensor which at the time was seen as revolutionary. The image quality compared to present day technology surely can’t be debated on. However for it's time it was great.

That being said, since then there have been many phone manufactures competing and bragging about their latest phone and it’s camera. Unfortunately, what these companies forgot to tackle was to include the full power of a dslr camera.

All of the phone manufactures have gotten one thing correct, the built in camera does take pictures. That’s it.

The good news is, there’s a company that saw this flaw and fixed the gap in the missing piece and they are called Pictar.

With the latest and greatest phone currently on the market, you are given the basic camera “functions”. A shutter button, flash, timer, HDR, post processing filters and a brightness slider.

For the everyday user, I’m guessing that’s enough. However from my personal experience and knowledge and status quo, photography is here to stay and the "photographer’s clan” is increasing.

Each and every level of photographer is striving to make the next best photo. So why limit yourself to the options you have built in your phone’s camera.

I’ve been using the Pictar One Plus for a bit now and it is an amazing piece of technology. My go to camera is medium format but I can’t bring it everywhere because of it’s share size.

With the Pictar One Plus and your mobile phone (IOS and Android) connected, it gives you the feeling of using a mirrorless camera (granted that mobile phone cameras have no mechanical mirror). Most of the functionalities you are used to, built in a standard camera, are at your finger tips and giving you more control with the Pictar application with is available on the App Store and Google Play. pictar

With the Pictar One Plus, all I have to do is slide my Iphone in, open up the Pictar app and I’m ready to go. Without compromising my iPhone by means of accidental drop and damaging it, my protective case / sleeve is left on. A quick tip though, if you have a protective case, make sure it’s not too bulky as it might not fit.

Pictar One Plus has an elegant design with an anti-slip grip. Making it easy to use with one hand. At the top of the device there are four programmable buttons.

-A smart wheel which is used to switch between the camera’s shooting modes.

-An exposure compensation wheel.

-A shutter release button. Which includes two functions: Half press (locks focus and exposure) and Full press releases the shot.

-A zoom ring which also works as a fifth button. When pressed in, the selfie button is activited.

Two other features worth mentioning, there is a cold shoe for mounting a led light. This can be handy when it comes to making videos and that extra light is required. Also, the device can be mounted to a tripod.

The device uses ultrasonic connectivity to bond your phone and itself. Giving you the freedom from Bluetooth hassle paring. Using the technology of ultrasonic connectivity, the provided battery last up to six months.

Here are some of the features you are given in the application. With each mode, there are multiple sub-menus to choose from. Allowing you to customize your preferred shooting style.

For example, with the Manual mode selected you have the ability to change the file format from JPEG to either TIFF or RAW. How amazing is that!

Finally the best part is, Pictar One Plus is future proof. Meaning, all of the phones that Apple and Samsung to mention a few, have on the market will work in the future with your Pictar One Plus along with it's smart application.

As the Pictar One Plus is now part of my camera bag, I’m curious and excited to see what they come up with next.

My recommendation: WORTH IT! Visit Pictar's store and get yours.
